In the beginning, I felt like Brooklyn was another person. She was like a whole other person, like my inner wild child coming out. As time has gone on, it’s just become more comfortable. In the beginning, it was definitely an odd thing. People that I know from high school or work or whatever are shocked, absolutely shocked at what I’m doing, because they would have never in a million years thought I’d be doing this”.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Brooklyn Chase did not begin performing in porn until she was 26 years old. Before then, Brooklyn Chase managed a retail pharmacy and was considering pursuing a career in nursing. Brooklyn Chase has stated within her December 2013 X-Rent DVD interview that;
“Before I was in porn, I managed a retail pharmacy so I had a staff of 17 that directly reported to me. I ran a store and a pharmacy and helped customers and I really enjoyed that. Brooklyn Chase discussed her reasons for swapping pharmaceuticals for porn during her November 2013 Adult DVD Talk interview, revealing that;
“I was looking for a new job. I had worked in customer service and retail for 11 years and had worked my way up to upper management, so I figured when I was looking for something new that even though I didn’t have a degree, that my experience would help. And that wasn’t the case. I had rent to pay and had car payments due so I was looking around for some way to get money fast. Even though I’m so shy and self-conscious, I knew that other people thought I was attractive so I thought I could strip or something like that… They [her agency] explained the industry to me and I said, ‘Oh my gosh, no no no I cannot do that. I cannot do porn’. There was no way I could do porn. So a few months went by and I was digging deeper and deeper into my savings and I had second thoughts. I obviously didn’t have a problem having sex with strangers because I do it anyways so I might as well make money doing it. So I shot a scene to see if I could handle it and what I thought. I was shocked at how fun it was and how easy it was and I walked away with a check that day. I was sold from then on! (laughs)”.
